Collection: 50 Amp Circuit Breakers

50 amp breakers are usually double-pole breakers for large 240 volt loads such as electric ranges and subpanels. We stock standard and GFCI 50 amp breakers from Square D, Siemens, Eaton and GE.

50 amp breaker guide

Sizing

The breaker size comes from the equipment's nameplate or, for a subpanel, the feeder design, and the wire must be rated for it. Never fit a bigger breaker than the wire allows. More in circuit breaker sizes explained.

Double-pole

A double-pole breaker takes two spaces and disconnects both 120 volt legs of a 240 volt circuit at once.

GFCI

Spas, hot tubs and some outdoor equipment may need a double-pole GFCI breaker. See our GFCI breakers. Which NEC edition applies depends on your state or city, and your local inspector has the final say.

Match the breaker to your panel

A breaker only fits the load centers it's listed for, so check the label inside your panel door, then shop by brand: Square D QO, Square D Homeline, Siemens, Eaton Cutler-Hammer or GE Q-Line.

Installation

Breakers are installed inside a live electrical panel. Have a licensed electrician do the work.
